For artist and art educator Michelle Kuen Suet Fung’s second students exhibition, the artworks explore the relationship between global food production and the food waste problem. The younger students’ diptych paintings portray the global statistics of wasted food. (30% of all the food produced globally is wasted.) Older students conduct individual research in statistics on the food waste problem during class, and incorporate their research into their mixed-media paintings.

To compliment our classroom experience, we visited the local farm Sangwoodgoon to educate ourselves on food production in November 2018. In January 2019, we had a volunteering field trip collecting unsold bread from bakeries with Feeding Hong Kong.
