The “Polluta Sequoia Elephants” collection combines the unique lumpy shapes of the sequoia trees and a flying elephant.
 
Play is an important aspect in the original wood carvings, and I give myself permission for free association. While I was creating the largest piece in this collection, the Austrian artist/architect Hundertwasser came to my mind. He has been one of my fav since I was a teenager.
 
The elephant carrying Polluta, the imaginary world I created, also pays tribute to the Chinese auspicious saying 太平有象, meaning a peaceful world while the imagery depicts an elephant. Typically, the elephant would carry an ornate vase.
 
Each work in this collection features the flying elephants in my imaginary artist colony Polluta. These flying elephants transport everything to this floating island in the sky.
 
The work is framed in an ornate super sturdy solid pine wooden frame. I’ve tried other lighter frames that would make shipping and transportation much easier.

After some painful moments, I ended up sticking with these gorgeous delicate quasi-Victorian frames.
